Improving your piano skills starts with weakness.
I want to play the piano with a beautiful sound, and I want to play beautiful flowing melodies.
I think everyone who is learning to play the piano thinks so. But when I was actually playing it, this was it!
At this point, too much force is applied, causing the sound to become hard and not be legato properly. Now, let's think about when and where we put our energy into it.
1 When do you become overpowered?
・When you want to produce a strong or thick sound
・When you play a song or phrase with a fast tempo
・When you reach a difficult part
・When you practice a song that is more difficult than your level
2 Where does the power go?
・Fingers
, back of hand, palm
, wrist
and shoulder
3 Things to be careful about when feeling weak
・Don't apply too much pressure, even with forte... A pressing touch will make the sound dirty.
・ Relax your shoulders... If you put pressure on your shoulders, unnecessary force will be applied to all the muscles such as your elbows and armpits.
・ Wrists Soften...The entire elbow becomes stiff, making it impossible to use the weight of the arm and making it difficult to move the fingers.
4 Exercise methods for weakness
・Check the strength of the back of your hand and wrist while playing each note at a very slow tempo.
・Relax your arm and drop your hand from about 40cm above the keyboard (you are in a weak state when it falls).
・Do-Re-Mi When moving from C to D to E using the three sounds, relax your strength.
- Repeat Do Re Mi Faso while increasing the number of notes little by little until you can play legato.
Of course, this does not mean that there is no power at all.
The important thing is to put in as much effort as you need when you need it. Beginners especially tend to put in effort unconsciously. Be sure to play with a sense of relaxation so as not to use unnecessary force.
