The song “Big Old Clock” is famous both as a children’s song and as a cover song for Ken Hirai and others.
It is a very moving song that makes me cry quietly when I hear it.
In fact, this song is originally an American folk song, not a Japanese song.
The song was first written in the U.S. The amazing thing about this song, which was published in 1876 and widely known as a folk song, is that its [sheet music] has sold over a million copies. (Not CDs or records.)
Indeed, the tempo, which is easy for beginners to play, and the melody, which is easy to get into one’s head, may have made it easy to be played on a variety of instruments, regardless of the type of instrument.
Incidentally, the title of the American version of “The Big Old Clock” is “My Grandfather’s Clock.
As the title suggests, the lyrics are almost identical to those of the big old Japanese clock.
In this issue, we will introduce the free sheet music for the “Big Old Clock”.
The tempo is quite slow as in the original piece and consists of simple notes, so the difficulty level is low for all of them.
However, because of its wide range, it must be played with a slight movement of the arm.
It is not a song that requires only moving the fingers in the same position, so it is not suitable as a first song for piano beginners.
Sheet music with do-re-mi is also available for beginners.

The Big Old Clock Free Sheet Music (Melody Score with Doremi)
The first one is a melody score with a do-re-mi transposed to C major of my own composition.
Since it does not use black keys, it would be easy to play for beginning piano players and other instruments.
The range is rather wide, so be careful not to mistake “low so” for “high so”.
Please use this if you play on your phone’s piano app or pianica.
The Big Old Clock Free Sheet Music (2) (Melody Score)
The following is also a melody score, but in the same key as the original (G major).
The subsequent scores for (3) and (4) are also made in G major, so if possible, let the right hand get used to this melody.
All “fas” become “#fas,” so play with care.
The difficulty level is elementary.
The Big Old Clock Free Sheet Music (3) (Introductory)
The following is a score for two hands with accompaniment to the G major melody in (2).
The left hand of the accompaniment is made with a low level of difficulty, so even beginners will be able to play it quickly if they can play the right hand.
The difficulty level is elementary.
The Big Old Clock Free Sheet Music (4) (Elementary)
Lastly, the last piece of music presented here is a score of beginner difficulty that is played with both hands.
The right hand is the same as up to (3), but the difficulty level of the left hand is slightly increased. Since the range is made a little wider, the left hand will have to be played while moving it as well as the right hand.
The difficulty level is elementary.
